These women are an example of how much we can achieve as a community when as individuals we do our part to empower others. Follow-up Links Our Website latinbiz awards latinbiz magazine biz talk radio show Now accepting nominations for our latinbiz Fifth Annual Women of Virtue & Alba Awards Latinbiz Alba Award for Lifetime Achievement The Alba award was inspired by its first honoree Curra Alba (Monica Puig's mother) and is given out every year to a senior woman in honor of her lifetime achievement. Curra Alba has devoted her life to performing Flamenco and teaching others this cultural Andalusian Spanish dance. She has performed in 32 U. S. states, all major cities in Canada, and throughout the Middle East and Europe, with the exception of Russia and Holland. She has performed in movies and for Royal such as Princess Grace and Prince Rainier of Monaco, and the Royal family of Iran. She is the first artist to have performed at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center and the inauguration of the Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg was named 1991 Woman Of the Year in Arts Hispanic Heritage of Tampa Bay. Over 75, Curra Alba continues to enchant her audiences with her talent and tireless energy at private and cultural events. She teaches group and private classes in Tampa. Her students encompass three generations with ages ranging from 6 to 89, including special needs children.
